The holidays are upon us. Is it just me or does it feel like this year went by in the blink of an eye. One of our favorite places to spend time during the holidays is Southlake Mall in Merrillville, In. Since I was a child we’ve gone to the mall to visit Santa, shop for gifts, hang with friends, and grab a bite to eat. Today I’m sharing my favorite stops this season!
Santa, I know him! Santa is a seasonal favorite and Southlake Mall does not disappoint this year. The setup is over the top from start to finish. You can make a reservation before you go to cut down the wait time, or you can always walk up. You enter through Santa’s red door, and hop on his sleigh with him. You have the option to choose from a variety of packages and frames for an extra fee. This year the girls got hats from Santa and I thought this was such a fun touch!

Santa’s Pajama Jam

2:00 pm – 04:00 pm
Come to Center Court on Saturday, December 17, from 2-4 pm to meet Mrs. Claus, Buddy the Elf, Rudolph, and Santa! Kids are welcome to come in their favorite holiday pajamas for a dance party, storytime, goodies, and more.
Pet Photos with Santa
On November 28, December 5, 12, and 19, from 4-7 pm, bring your favorite pet to visit with Santa and take a photo.
Please enter through the mall entrance on the lower level near Forever 21. All pets must be leashed or in a carrier.
Food Court Eats. The Food Court at Southlake Mall has something for everyone. Our go to is always Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. There are options like Sbarro, Whispers, Maki of Japan, Cinnabon, and the fabulous restaurants Cooper’s Hawk and Olive Garden, plus so much more.
Gift Shopping Galore! Southlake Mall has so many great stores all under one roof. Some of our personal favorites to shop are JCPenney, Maurices, American Eagle, and Pandora! JCPenney has something for everyone from babies to teens, to adult clothing, and home finds. New at Maurices is Evsie which has clothing for girls to teens starting at size XXS [6]. My girls had a blast picking out some new winter clothes. Pandora is located on the first floor near the center and if you know someone that wears Pandora, it’s a no brainer to gift them a charm. They are sure to love it!
