Raise your hand if you suffer from a chronic disease🙋🏼‍♀️. Chances are that a lot of you reading this raised your hand. Next Question- are you on medication for your chronic disease? Yes? Do you take it EVERY. SINGLE. DAY?? Did you know 100 million Americans do not follow their prescription requirements correctly – either because of forgetfulness, inconvenience or lack of education and 33% of prescriptions are never filled. { sourced from Walgreens }Guys this is terrifying, here we are suffering from chronic disease and there are medications to help that we aren’t using effectively.

In 2012 just after getting married at the age of 28 I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism.

Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) is a condition in which your thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough of certain crucial hormones. Hypothyroidism may not cause noticeable symptoms in the early stages. Over time, untreated hypothyroidism can cause a number of health problems, such as obesity, joint pain, infertility and heart disease. { sourced from Mayo Clinic }.

Personally it had always been hard for me to maintain my ideal weight despite exercising and eating a balanced diet. I also am diagnosed PCOS so at the time I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid I was experiencing infertility. Other symptoms I was having were cold hands and feet, mood swings, puffy face, and general fatigue. Once diagnosed my Doctor shared the importance of taking my medication at the same time every day and not skipping a day. This is actually a common direction on most medications, but with the business of life this often slips our minds. I keep my Thyroid Medication in the kitchen cabinet right next to the glasses since the first thing I do in the morning is drink a glass of water { and also take my Thyroid Medicine }. It’s important that I feel my best and show my girls the best version of me that I’m able to and this includes staying on top of my medication and chronic disease.
